About Blue Basset
As a proud humanities graduate in the summer of 2006, I naturally landed a job as a dog-walker. With a few exceptions, I've pretty much been doing it ever since. As a career pet-sitter, I have cared for every type of wonderful pet for 20 years and counting.
In the Summer of 2018, I relocated from Fairfax, Virginia to Cottage City, Maryland with the goal of running a doggy daycare and boarding business out of a cozy home on few small plots of land. Soon enough, my little dog hotel was full of wagging tails.
Then, the COVID pandemic struck and tethered people to their homes full-time, rendering the need for pet-sitting almost nonexistent overnight. Fortunately, I found a dreamy part-time gig at the locally legendary Shortcake Bakery in Hyattsville.
It was at this magical place that my idea to make handmade treats for the dogs I loved and missed was born.
After much trial and error, baking disasters and ugly creations, what became my signature Pup Portrait cookies made their debut at a local farmers market in the Spring of 2021, and they were a hit!
